PRESS RELEASE

Sponsors of the 2005 Heartland Film Festival Provide Support for Truly Moving Pictures

and the Visionaries Behind Them

The 14th annual Heartland Film Festival®, which runs October 13-21 in Indianapolis, is pleased to announce this year's sponsors. As a non-profit organization, Heartland receives support from corporate sponsors as well as from private foundations, non-profit associations, government agencies and individual donors. These contributions help underwrite the presentation of more than $100,000 in cash prizes, including a grand prize award of $50,000, and screenings of Truly Moving PicturesSM during the annual Festival.

In addition to funds which help pay for the costs of the many events and activities, sponsors provide donated goods and services which help make the Festival an engaging experience for participants. These contributions along with the continuing passion and dedication of sponsors assist with operations, marketing, volunteer services and transportation for the Festival. Sponsors also provide the financial support necessary for the creative enrichment of the independent film community, which allows filmmakers of all ages to voice powerful stories of inspiration and hope.

“We are thrilled to welcome back our wonderfully generous returning sponsors and delighted to have several new additions this year,” said Peggy Monson, vice president for advancement for Heartland Film Festival. “The Festival is a major undertaking that could not be executed without our sponsors’ generous financial support and shared commitment to Truly Moving Pictures and the visionaries behind them.”

Heartland Film Festival honors films that celebrate the best aspects of the human journey. For more than a decade, the goal of Heartland has remained the same: to make a positive impact on American culture through film and to encourage moviegoers to see life differently.

Heartland Film Festival, a non-profit organization, was established in 1991 to recognize and honor filmmakers whose work explores the human journey by artistically expressing hope and respect for the positive values of life. Each October, Heartland screens Truly Moving Pictures from around the world, ranging from dramas to documentaries to animation. Heartland awards more than $100,000 in cash prizes and Crystal Heart Awards to the Festival's top entries, including a $50,000 grand prize for best dramatic feature. The Jimmy Stewart Memorial Crystal Heart Award-winners for the best student films and the Crystal Heart Award-winners share the remaining money. The Crystal Heart Award cash prizes are given in honor of Max Simon by his parents, Melvin and Bren Simon, through the Max Simon Charitable Foundation. In 14 years, Heartland has awarded more than $1.4 million to support filmmakers in their quest to create Truly Moving Pictures.
